CCS Update – Live Oak had an impressive number of teams make it to CCS this fall – Girls Volleyball, Boys and Girls Water Polo, Cross Country and Football.  While our Water Polo teams lost this weekend in their second round of playoffs, and Girls Volleyball lost last Wednesday, Football has its first CCS playoff game at Terra Nova at 7 pm on Friday.  Go Nuts!

 

MORNING Home and School Club Meeting – This Thursday, November 19th at 8:30 am in the Library.   Drop your kids at school and come early for some coffee and muffins.  It is important to get as many parents involved so for those who can't make an evening meeting, hopefully this time works.  BRING a friend!  For more information, check out the Home & School Club webpage or  email LiveOakHighSchoolHSC@yahoo.com

Live Oak Emerald Regime Takes First Place in Class 1A competition at the James Logan Invitational.  - The Live Oak ER scored a 78.00 and placed first out of eight bands in their class. ERs score also placed higher than six of the seven 2A and 3A bands. Caption awards included best music, best auxiliary,  and general effect. This concludes the regular season with ER placing first in all competitions in which they competed. On Saturday, November 21, LOER will compete at the California State Western Band Association Championships at Koligian Stadium in Fresno. ER will compete against 17 1A bands from all over the state. A total of 71 bands compete in five classes, with the top three scores in each of five classes received  on Saturday, return to  compete on Sunday at Buchanan HS in Clovis for the Finals.

Live Oak Rugby - Any student interested in playing rugby this winter and spring, please contact Bart Nielsen at 408-410-3111.  All players are welcome and no experience is necessary.  We will be fielding two teams this year with games on Friday nights and Saturdays from Jan. 15/16 through May 15. Call for more information.  

 

Seniors – Common Scholarship Application – Due Friday, December 4th.  This one scholarship application makes you a candidate for many local scholarships.  You will need to request a recommendation letter, so start planning for that now.  For more information, including a list of scholarship donors, a sample resume format, a recommendation letter request form,  and a blank application, go to Common Scholarship on the LO website.

 

Winter Ball – Saturday, December 5th, 8-11 pm at Sobrato.  Tickets are $15 with ASB or $20 without.  Permission forms will be available at the ASB office or on the website very soon.

 

Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive – Please collect and bring canned food to class, and enhance Thanksgiving for 125 needy Morgan Hill families.  This is an annual Live Oak community service activity coordinated by the FBLA club. 

 

Recycle Your Glasses - FFA in support of the Lions Club has placed collection boxes around campus (there is one in the front office) to accept your old, useable eye glasses.  Lenses can be broken but frames must be complete.  Let’s help someone see!

 

Adopt-a-Bulb for a NEW Digital Sign at the School Entrance – Adopt 1 bulb for $5; for every 5 bulbs get one bulb FREE.  You may dedicate the purchase to your child's class (or your class) or in your family name or business name.  Please help get friends, family, Alumni and the community involved.  For details and to order using PayPal, go to Digital Sign on the LO Website.  Go Nuts! 

 

LO Emerald Regime – Instrument Donation Drive – the LO Emerald Regime is in need of gently used musical instruments.  They will be made available for loan to students whose instruments are being repaired, or to students who are not financially able to provide their own instruments.  All donations are tax deductable.  Please contact Debra Turner 313-5408.
